Classic Swiss material from the high Alpine peaks of the Swiss Alps, these hematite clusters have been treasured for hundreds of years. This particular fine cluster, intact and pristine all around with crystals to 2.7 cm across, is remarkably 3-dimensional and is perched atop a clear quartz crystal cluster. Note the extra bonus of rutile present here and there, including a large and robust 6mm, well terminated crystal on one face. Hard to capture in photos, this is better in person. From the collections of Tony Jones and George Witters, with labels (Tony sold off his own collection in the end, through his business California Rock and Mineral). Both of them, old guard collectors around for the Golden Age of mineral collecting, and with exquisite refined taste in the classics.
