Tucson, Arizona, USAMalachite pseudomorphs after bladed Azurite crystals are a classic feature of the famous copper deposit at Tsumeb mine in Namibia and come in a range of sizes. This cute thumbnail shows two very well-formed monoclinic Azurite crystals which are totally replaced by Malachite. There is slight chipping to one edge and the termination of the main crystal but it still looks great overall in its freestanding position and is a lovely pseudomorph thumbnail - something not often seen in this smaller size. The Malachite can be seen to infill the shape of the Azurite crystals as compact green fibrous masses and a small piece of matrix adds nice balance to the piece.
