Vuggy botryoidal deep blue crystal-lined Azurite is an iconic image of Bisbee mineralogy and back in the 1960s, and perhaps earlier, superb display specimens entered most major museums around the world. Unfortunately, for all of their richness, many were damaged, with abrasion and rubbing on the surfaces commonplace, meaning that perfect specimens like this beautiful large miniature are now highly sought after and very special indeed. Part of the allure of this piece is its combination with Malachite providing a pretty contrast in colour, from pale green to two-tone blue (mid-blue massive Azurite and deeper blue Azurite crystals lining the vug). This really is a very aesthetic Bisbee Azurite and has a quite sculptural form too. An Arizonan classic.
