A fine cluster of purple, octahedral fluorite crystals from a rare USA locality on Cookes Peak, Luna County, New Mexico - where such clusters are not common at all. At least a dozen, well-formed, purple, zoned fluorite crystals from 0.5 to 2.8 cm on edge display cores of light purple to locally pale green (revealed by a few cleaved crystal lower on the piece) with dark purple rims and edges for great effect and aesthetics. This is a wonderful small cabinet piece with the translucent to transparent octahedra arranged side-by-side and they all display a luster that is between vitreous and satin. These pretty purple, intergrown octahedra are easily recognizable compared to "the other" New Mexican locality in Catron County being more well known. This is an excellent example from this locale and very aesthetic!
