This is a highly sparkling, shiny, unusually sculptural combination of fluorite and quartz that somehow is also a floater - complete all around with no contacts. Beautiful, gemmy, pale green fluorite octahedrons are intimately associated with spiky milky to transparent quartz crystals from Pasto Bueno, Peru, from 1980s finds. The glassy, limpid, 2 to 4 cm octahedral fluorites have minor cube modifications on the corners and dominate the bottom and sides of the piece. The fluorites are modestly intergrown and the nest of vitreous quartz crystals is set right in the middle of the piece consists of at least two dozen individuals that range in size from 1 to 6.5 cm. All of the quartz crystals are perfectly terminated and there is no visible damage to the fluorite either! A very aesthetic and beautifully composed combination specimen with no really "right" display face, as we could see it show in 3 or 4 different orientations. It is miraculously pristine...hard to believe for something like this. The 3-dimensional aspect is hard to understand without holding in person but, bluntly, is really dramatic and not like any other Peruvian example you have seen. Cannot even think how it formed and stayed intact as the Andes rose around it, just waiting in a pocket to be found.
