A stunning "pair" of intricately "zoned" fluorite octahedrons from the famous Yindu metals Deposit, Inner Mongolia, China. These crystals are as fascinating as they are beautiful! They are a transparent, medium sea-green overall, however, they have these irregular, inky purple, unusually "ring-like" curved zone areas within that are restricted to the inside of all of the octahedral points; and they do not look like they are related to internal cube face phantoms at all, because of their contorted nature. We have seen this effect in some thumbnails from this mine, but not in a large piece like this. The largest crystal here measures 5.5 cm on its most continuous edge, however, the opposite edge shows that this large crystal may be a very tight, parallel intergrowth of three crystals! The other crystal measures 4.5 cm on its longest edge. Both crystals are very sharply formed and just spectacular! There is even a very sparse dusting of tiny and brilliant pyrite cubes (under 1mm) that form a subtle, diffuse "ring" around the midsection of the larger fluorite crystal for a surprising and sparkly bonus! The fluorites are mounted on a 3 cm wide, stubby stalk of milky quartz that is sprinkled with 2 to 3 mm flakes of shiny, yellow muscovite. The contacted, but rehealed(?) backside of the fluorites are also dusted with muscovite crystals. They fluoresce a rich purple under long-wave UV! A very showy and intriguing piece! Comes with a custom engraved acrylic base.
