The Bad Ems District in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany is world famous for its magnificently rich crystallized specimens of Pyromorphite which came from a cluster of famous mines during the later years of the 19th century. Friedrichssegen mine was one of the mines to have produced the stunning 'brown' Pyromorphite, but generally in paler brown to cream coloured shades. This exceptional miniature specimen is from the Martin Kershaw Collection and features a sculptural twisted arrangement of pure aggregated Pyromorphite crystals. However, not only does it have great 'shape' but it reveals a fine zonation in colour from mid- to pale-brown and with the finest resinous 'wet' lustre to the surfaces of the crystals. These crystals reach over 1.2 cm in length and are in superb condition. On a world-scale brown Pyromorphite is rare, and this cracker is a beauty and from the classic region at Bad Ems.
