Fluorite with Siderite

This very large thin plate of pale icy-green Fluorite crystals with a sparse, but in places concentrated, overgrowth of beige-brown clustered curved rhombic Siderite crystals is from the famous silver-mining region of Freiberg in Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany. Compared with many other mining areas Fluorite is relatively uncommon at Freiberg and this combination with Siderite is quite similar to some specimens seen from the Camborne area in Cornwall, England. The Fluorite crystals, which reach over 1.5 cm on edge, are dominantly sharp intergrown cubes and display a very glassy lustre and good translucency. There is a cleaved corner to one of the crystals, but overall this is very fine condition for a Freiberg Fluorite and is an extremely good size for display.
