It is not very often that rich Chalcopyrite specimens are seen from Freiberg, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany. Small cabinet in size, this pure aggregate of Chalcopyrite is part massive vein, but this extends upwards into significant crystals, displaying an eye-catching stepped triangular growth pattern. This is an exceptionally fine piece for Freiberg and not just some light 'dusting' of Chalcopyrite crystals. Clearly an old-timer, its historic pedigree is show by an accompanying very old (probably mid-19th century) pale blue-rimmed handwritten label of unusually large proportions. Ex Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) Collection.
