Known predominantly for its lovely blue Fluorite, the Brandenberg mine in Freiburg Region, Baden-Württemberg, Germany has produced some exceptional crystallized specimens over the years, but fine example are uncommon. Worked specifically for industrial Fluorspar, the mine closed during the 1970s. However specimens have still been found by collectors even in recent times. This lovely small cabinet piece is much enhanced by the presence of rich coatings of small pearlescent white Dolomite crystals upon selective Fluorite crystal faces. The Fluorite is itself quite gemmy, and cream in colour, and the overall shape and balance of the specimen is excellent. The largest Fluorite crystal reaches 3.4 cm on edge, but the rear of crystal is missing where the specimen has been trimmed, or where it was removed from matrix. Nevertheless, the display facing side of the specimen is really beautiful.
