A quite rare example of a finely terminated gem crystal of this very rare and usually quite ugly, rock forming species. Formerly in the Houran Collection, specializing at the time in some of the finest examples of gem quality minerals, he kept this for its combination of size, termination, and quality overall. We have to say, we have had a lot of minerals in decades in the business and this one was a surprise. It looks more like a diopside or dark peridot, and enstatite was not a guess I would have made if put in my hand with no label. Alex's note says, From: James Houran, January 27, 2015.
