A surprisingly robust, dramatic silver specimen from a location well known for "frilly, hairlike" thin silver squiggles. Alex liked thick silvers, clearly, and searched for silvers from other locations that could easily be mistaken for the quality and thickness of a Kongsberg silver specimen, such as this. Large silvers can get thick, and we expect that in larger specimens - but nature seldom gives us this robust breadth of a silver wire in thumbnail-sized specimens (let alone, beautiful display quality ones). Recently featured in the book, Refined Elegance (Mineralogical Record, Nov. 2022) on page 116. Laszlo Kupi photo.
