Hambergite is one of those minerals that is usually, if you see it at all, white and boring. Many crystals have a chalky texture to them. This, however, is bright and lustrous, and shows amazing twinned geometry. It is hard to tell in the photo, but it is also very robust and 3-dimensional. The whole thing is a floater, complete all around! The Schauss collection was notable for the breadth and depth of species represented but, and this is a big but, he would never add something merely representative. Each item was specially chosen, or unique compared to most thumbnails out there in some manner. This kind of specimen shows that kind of long-play discipline, and is reflected in the species examples in this collection. Laszlo Kupi photo.
