The rare hydrated copper arsenate hydroxide species Euchroite was described from the Svätodušná Valley in Slovakia in 1823 and in the proceeding two centuries has never been found elsewhere in the world in better crystals. Re-investigation of the original deposit in the early 21st century produced some magnificent crystals quite similar to the originals but we have no details of when this amazing specimen was found. Upon the classic shiny grey slate or phyllite rock with red-brown Fe-oxides sit several perfectly formed orthorhombic crystals, the largest of which measures a breathtaking 0.9 cm on edge, or 1.1 cm across at its longest point, and dwarfs all of the others. With a somewhat pseudocubic aspect to it, this crystal is absolutely perfect, with no damage whatsoever, and presenting different shades and lustres of leafy green to grass green on each crystal face. The many smaller crystals show similar appearance. A world-class crystallized Euchroite from the Type Locality.
