At 5.1 cm in length this is a really good sized crystal of the intensely coloured raspberry-pink Elbaite tourmaline from the modern pegmatite workings at Coronel Murta in Minas Gerais state, Brazil. Furthermore, it is a doubly-terminated 'floater' crystal, complete all round and with a nice classic association of small clustered 'books' of Lepidolite mica attached to one side of the prism. As is typical of the doubly-terminated crystals from Coronel Murta it displays one dominantly three-sided pyramidal termination and one flat pinacoid face. There is one reported repair to the crystal, which is almost mid-length in position and where a small chip is seen in the prism surface. Otherwise, the terminations are really fine and the crystal has an overall very glassy to gemmy appearance.
