For a relatively colourless Beryl this matrixless crystal has a form quite typical of the pink variety Morganite. That is a squat, wide, to almost tabular-shaped prism, with a notable bevelled edge to the corner of two of the prism faces. The crystal is not complete, missing one side, but it is optically colourless and very gemmy, but with unusual finely crystallized, or possibly naturally etched undulating surfaces. Its provenance is simply to the famous gem-bearing state of Minas Gerais in Brazil, but at 4.4 cm wide it is a good sized Beryl.
