There isn’t much that hasn’t been said about the iconic rhodochrosites discovered in the late 1970s at South Africa’s N’Chwaning Mines. They set the world standard for rhodochrosite at the time, long before Collector’s Edge commenced operations at the Sweet Home Mine in 1991. They are still among the most desired for the species, and it’s easy to see why. This is a wonderful thumbnail with large and exceptionally gemmy crystals. Some tip damage, as seen with nearly all of these, but otherwise fantastic with deep red color.
