The Live Oak Pit is a historic copper mining operation located north of Miami in Gila County, Arizona, within the Globe Miami mining district. The deposit was first discovered in 1872 and later became part of the large Miami Inspiration copper system. Development increased in the early 20th century after the formation of the Miami Copper Company and Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company, which expanded mining in the district. The Live Oak Pit was one of several open pits developed on the ore body and was worked for copper ore from both oxide and enriched zones before later operations merged with larger nearby workings.
