Stephanite is a rare silver antimony sulfide which was first discovered in this area of Germany. The Himmelsfurst Mine, where this specimen came from, operated from 1710 to 1896. It was was one of, if not, the most productive silver mines in the Freiberg District. It’s notable for a host of silver species, including this one. This is a fine grouping of lustrous metallic stephanite crystals. Very rare and very neat. A German classic!
