A very rare and beautiful example of rhodochrosite from this most unusual locality – the Moanda Mine in Gabon – a very high grade manganese deposit. Rhodochrosites from this locality were found in the 1970s and 1980s, with none seen since. This particular example features hundreds of sharp deep red crystals atop a nicely contrasting black manganese oxide matrix. A must for collectors of the species.
