A rare and beautiful example of rhodochrosite from this most unusual locality – the Moanda Mine in Gabon – a very high grade manganese deposit. Rhodochrosites from this locality were found in the 1970s and 1980s, with none seen since. This particular example features many sharp deep red crystals atop a nicely contrasting black manganese oxide matrix. A must for collectors of the species.
