Dioptase
Unknown Owner
This is an extremely well crystallized Dioptase miniature from world-famous Tsumeb mine - renowned for its diversity in minerals, but also for certain species that are exceptionally well crystallized within the deposit. Dioptase is one of those species for which Tsumeb's name always gets associated and this superb smaller specimen shows why, with its abundance of very large (reaching 1.3 cm, but many to 1 cm) well formed intensely emerald-green gemmy crystals. There is slight chipping to the edges of a couple of the crystals, but there is a certain balance to this piece which makes it display extremely well. Ex Weyand collection.
