Cerussite
This classic twinned Cerussite crystal aggregate from Tsumeb mine is a 'floater', meaning that it is complete on all sides and would have crystallized suspended within a cavity, probably within clay, or some other soft media. At 5.7 cm in length and very robust it is a nice size for a smaller display and is in overall very good condition, with just a few abrasions on the surface and one or two very small chips to the ends of the crystals. The branching twins splay off in several directions from the main crystals and show the early stages of what is called 'snowflake' twinning. At the lower end of the main Cerussite crystals fine khaki-green inclusions of a powered mineral can be seen. This is probably Duftite but has not been formally tested. These distinctive twinned Cerussite are icons of Tsumeb's famous mineralogy and stand out against most other Cerussite crystals from around the world. Ex Weyand collection.
