Tucson, Arizona, USAThe West Cumbrian Iron Mining District is world-renowned for its superb Baryte crystals, many of which were collected over a century ago. The crystals took a variety of colours and forms, with some aggregated in weird and wonderful sculptural forms. This cabinet-sized display specimen is one such strange example with pale grey coloured tabular to bladed crystals - some aggregated in a parallel arrangement and others inbetween holding them together with a small plate of Dolomite crystals forming a small piece of matrix. The individual Baryte crystals reach over 6 cm in length. It is from Cleator Moor, which is a famous mining area and town in the northern part of the West Cumbrian Iron Mining District.
