Jamesonite is a rare lead iron antimony sulphide named after the Scottish professor of mineralogy Robert Jameson during the 1820s. The original Type Material came from 'Cornwall' but clearly from the small group of antimony-rich mines in the vicinity of St. Endellion in north Cornwall. Wheal Boys, from where this specimen comes, is one possible candidate. This rich miniature specimen is very typical of Jamesonite, showing its characteristic wispy matted fibrous form and associated with white vein Quartz and cream coloured Siderite. Ex Malcolm Southwood collection, no. MS 1995.020.
