Dioptase with Duftite on Calcite
Unknown Owner
This is a really pretty Tsumeb classic and shows that you don't need super large Dioptase crystals to produce a stunning display specimen. Here, a very 3-dimensional growth of Calcite crystals forms the basis, or matrix of the specimen, with an intense liberal coverage of 1 to 2 mm-sized glossy, emerald-green Dioptase crystals covering 90 percent of the Calcite. A little of the underlying white crystallized Calcite can be seen from one end of the specimen and presents a nice contrast, and at this end a few patches of murky green Duftite can be seen too. There is a little light bruising to the Dioptase crystals at the highest point of the specimen, but overall this is a magnificent larger display Dioptase specimen from Tsumeb mine and will add considerable colour and class to a display. Ex Weyand collection.
