Malachite on Dioptase
Unknown Owner
For all of Tsumeb's rich copper mineralization and exceptional Dioptase specimens it it actually extremely rare to find the combination of Malachite and Dioptase. This miniature specimen from the Weyand collection is a little treasure, featuring a small but rich aggregate of gemmy emerald-green Dioptase crystals upon which 'puffball'-like spheres of silky green acicular Malachite have covered one end. The Malachite balls reach 5 mm in diameter and the contrasting lustre and crystal form stand out wonderfully against the glossy angular Dioptase crystals which themselves reach 4 mm in size. A really sweet Tsumeb miniature, and enhanced with a little pale green Duftite, or Arsentsumebite, on the back.
