This fully terminated 5 cm tall, broad prismatic Elbaite crystal from Nuristan in Afghanistan displays a sharply colour-zoned tip. Its lower 4 cm is extremely dark green in colour and virtually opaque, but its termination is translucent to slightly transparent with a general colourless appearance influenced by a faint pink tinge to its summit and greenish reflections from below. Two sides of the crystal are coated by white to cream coloured bladed Cleavelandite crystals in a mesh-like pattern. There are very slight abrasions along the edges of the Elbaite crystal and tiny chipping present on its termination but generally its termination is extremely good with really excellent pyramidal faces including extra modified faces.
