An attractive, sculptural and very good specimen of wavellite from a really unusual find in, of all places, Pennsylvania...not Arkansas! This colorful small cabinet piece is covered in well-formed, bright pistachio green botryoids from 0.5 to 1 cm in size, some of them mounded on top of one another. The botryoids have a silky surface sheen to them and are in excellent condition with some contacting around the periphery that reveals their internal radial fibrous structure. They are set on a contrasting, buff colored limestone matrix for great aesthetics. This specimen has an elegant look to it too with a truly captivating display. The label indicates it was collected by Joe Dague in 2006, during the start of construction of a road around the local quarry at that time; and then purchased from him 1/13/2007. It presents a fine display face and is one of the better quality that I can recall seeing when they came out.
