Quartz var. Amethyst
What a beautiful amethyst "bouquet" from Virginia! This gorgeous amethyst miniature consists of several stacked scepters along with a few isolated doubly terminated crystals, all perched on a sliver of drusy quartz matrix. The crystals are glassy and gemmy to translucent with the interior of some crystals having a turbid, pale purple interior with a transparent, lovely purple exterior and some of the larger crystals at the top are completely transparent, gemmy and glassy! The crystals and scepters are just slightly divergent and somewhat grown together. There is a small group on the back of the piece that is growing off at nearly a 45 degree angle. This piece is just well-composed and well balanced with the small plate of slightly iron-stained, coarse drusy quartz crystals providing the perfect platform. Bought from Carter Rich Aug. 2005, Steven Chamberlain acquired it 3/12/1986 from John Medici.
