A beautiful cabinet display specimen of the hard to find but well-known zeolite species, stellerite, also with chabazite from the Fairfax Quarry in Virginia. This elongate piece is a portion of a vug in altered basalt filled with numerous yellowish stellerite spheres measuring up to 1.5 cm with great translucency and luster accented by whitish yellow rhombs of chabazite to 1 cm. The stellerite spherules are comprised of individual, divergent crystals whose terminations glisten all around the spheres. Broken spheres around the periphery of the piece show their internal radial structure. An excellent and rare combination piece from the Fairfax Quarry. It was purchased from David Hennessey 10/31/1998. This is a rich and really colorful example from any US locality.
