The 'Iron Rose' variety of Hematite is a true Alpine classic and despite being dark grey to black in colour make for beautiful majestic specimens. This cabinet sized piece is really quite large compared with others we usually see and is in exceptional condition with wonderful aesthetic qualities. White rock matrix hosts several perfectly formed rosetted aggregates of dark grey metallic Hematite. The largest of these reaches 1.6 cm across and stands upright with other fine rosettes fanning off from it but not obscuring it. All of these crystals are in amazing condition. It is from Monte Prosa in the Prevat Valley in the Swiss alps.
