NATIVE Silver in Baryte
Unknown Owner
The complexity in form of this Native Silver from Schwarzwassertal at Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany is tremendous. The Native Silver occurs as branching dendrites embedded within dense white Baryte but rather than just being covered in a web of 'herringbones' or 'fern leaves' as some do from the Erzgebirge region, some of the Native Silver dendrites have gone, either detached or dissolved, leaving behind wonderful hollow patterns. These hollow voids give the impression of funky tessellated patterns. The remaining Native Silver dendrites are distributed in irregular orientations juxtaposed with their ordered individual form. The undulating natural surfaces provide a nice alternative to the sometimes cut and polished material. Ex Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) collection.
