NATIVE Silver

Unknown Owner
This large and showy cut and polished slice of the silver ore from the Cobalt area, Cobalt-Gowganda region, Timiskaming District, Ontario, Canada shows perfectly the richness of Native Silver, as striking skeletal 'herringbone' crystallized strands embedded within rock. This uniformly 1.3 cm wide slice features an excellent display of Native Silver over an area extending to 9 x 9 cm. This is absolutely classic material of this exsolution growth texture in Native Silver, which has to be cut and polished to be able to show its amazing texture. This material has been known from the Cobalt area since the 1920s. It is from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021).
