Azurite with Malachite
Unknown Owner
This magnificent small cabinet specimen is from the famous pre-2015 discoveries at Khanong open pit, Sepon mine, Laos. This remarkable material displays stunning Azurite crystals with an insanely 'wet' lustre. It can be seen that much of the Malachite on the specimen replaces, or pseudomorphs, Azurite crystals but what is not so apparent is that even the glossiest Azurite crystals are usually replaced internally, with the remaining Azurite just a veneer. Many of the crystals are rosetted, or clustered, but with wonderful clean faces displayed. Individually, the crystals reach 1.5 cm in length. A superb display specimen from this top quality limited discovery.
