This sharply formed cluster of 3 crystals grown in parallel shows off a classic old Brazilian pseudomorph style, known since the 1960s but rarely seen in such sharp and lustered style. This is a complete replacement of one phosphate by another: eosphorite is a rare manganese-aluminum phosphate hydrate; and ernstite is an equally rare manganese-iron-aluminum phosphate hydrate with hydroxyl and oxygen and is a product of oxidation of eosphorite. The Linópolis district has produced the best pseudomorphs of this type and this is a particularly fine miniature example for sharpness and geometry! One of several that jack Halpern purchased long ago from Si and Ann Frazier in San Francisco.
