A dramatic and large example of the classic, historic French bournonites that came out in the 1800s (or earlier, perhaps). Large specimens with large crystals are almost unheard of! These only come to market again in the oldest collections, or museum deaccessions. In person, they have a distinct look to the surface luster and style, that sets them apart from old British pieces (or Bolivian or Chinese, for that matter). This is a large, well-balanced specimen of unusually fine aesthetics, and one of the best we have seen for sale in any size range — plus it is a perfect size for most collectors. The large crystal is fully developed and complete all around. An important example of species and location both. From the collection of Rock Currier "Toadies" who picked up things as he bought old collections during his decades as a dealer.
