A sharp example of perfect geometry in nature, in this beautiful schorl tourmaline crystal perched on a bit of cleavelandite matrix for accent and contrast. We do not normally rave about schorl, tourmaline or not. But this piece has a particular fine elegance to it. From a 2024 production of fine crystals, noted for the association of black and white so that the colors really pop. Interestingly, in very strong lighting, we only just realized that these have a super dark indicolite blue termination on top (and so the rest of the pocket was sold as schorl, when we could have labeled them as indicolite on schorl cores!).
