This glistening and sparkling plate is a special style of Kalahari rhodochrosite that came out in association with shigaite in the 1990s, and is immediately recognizable for the gorgeous look and style. Here, it is an extended horizontal plate, pristine. The shigaite are the darker maroon crystals, here to several millimeters in size, sprinkled on the bed of glassy rhodochrosite. Old material. We first had this piece long ago, from the Charlie Key collection which we purchased around 2010. Charlie was a legendary dealer and a great force behind the growth and appreciation of Tsumeb minerals. Keyite and Ludlockite are both named after him.
