This fascinating nodular Azurite specimen from the aptly named Blue Ball mine at Globe in Arizona has been carefully split -not sawn - to reveal its amazing interior. Externally one might be forgiven for thinking that it is just a massive pale blue ball of Azurite, but, internally, the central geode-like hollow core is lined with dark blue sparkling Azurite microcrystals, but it is the partial infilling of silky green fibrous Malachite that really makes it special. Thumbnail in size, but larger than life in character.
