This nicely crystallized small miniature Chalcopyrite specimen is from famous Füsseberg mine, Biersdorf, Siegerland, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. This copper mine, famous for some of the best crystallized Chalcopyrite specimens in Germany, closed in 1965 and this specimen dates to when it was operating. This is because it is accompanied by a very large label/card index from Dr Hans-Jurgen Wilke's collection that documents him acquiring it from the Bergakadamie Clausthal in June 1967. It comprises an aggregate (2 x 1.9 x 1.6 cm) of beautiful twinned Chalcopyrite crystals (to 4.5 mm individually) displaying a fine brassy historic tarnish. Some of the crystals are damaged, but many are really sharp and fine, and the aggregate sits nicely upon a small sliver of cream coloured matrix. A rarely seen classic from Füsseberg mine.
