Tucson, Arizona, USATsumeb mine is not only the most well-known mineral deposit in the world, but it has also provided the finest examples of these unusual pseudomorphs of Malachite replacements after Azurite crystals. This cabinet-sized specimen is a perfect example of how good they get: multiple (at least 6) undamaged, large (over 5 cm in length), wide, sword-like, bladed monoclinic crystals lie on, or rise up from matrix. Four of these crystals are grown parallel to each other but with differing lengths. Many of the crystals are fully terminated and produce a very attractive display. The replacement of Azurite with silky deep green fibrous Malachite is complete. A magnificent display of this classic pseudomorph, from the world's premier locality for them.
