Hematite ps. after Calcite
Unknown Owner
This wonderful small cabinet specimen features glossy dark brown to black Hematite (or perhaps Goethite) pseudomorphs and epimorphs after sharp scalenohedral Calcite crystals. The quality of the crystals is excellent and the one broken crystal shows very nicely the internal hollow section of an epimorph. This type of replacement is rare worldwide and particularly so from Siegen in Siegerland, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany where this comes from. Ex Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) collection.
