This is a beautiful miniature from Ray mine at Scott Mountain in the fabulously sounding Dripping Spring Mts., Pinal Co., Arizona, USA. It features the classic Ray mine association of Quartz coating Chrysocolla. In this colourful piece 'eyes' of deep green stalactitic Chrysocolla are coated with a thinner layer of blue-grey Chrysocolla before being encapsulated in a layer of small pyramidal colourless Quartz crystals. This has the effect that you get the pale blue colour of the Chrysocolla imposed upon the colourless Quartz to produce a sparkling glassy pale blue coating, but contrasted with the deep green circular cores of Chrysocolla. It is a very lovely miniature specimen which can be viewed from many directions.
