Bagdad mine was a huge openpit copper mine in Eureka Mining District, Yavapai County, Arizona, USA. It was never regarded as a significant specimen-producing locality, but is known to have provided some Chrysocolla and Chrysocolla-Quartz specimens back in the 1970s and 1980s. In general, the Quartz was rarely well-crystallized, but did form some attractive turquoise-blue coatings where it was included with blue Chrysocolla. This cabinet-sized display specimen must surely be one of the finest known from Bagdad mine. It is not only large, but it is the perfect turquoise-blue colour and encrusted with small glossy terminated Quartz crystals, adding to its sparkle. The shallow Quartz-lined vug reaches 6 x 3 cm in extent, making for a very prominent bright and colourful display and shows no damage. The matrix is a dappled green and brown aggregate of Chrysocolla with a few veinlets of turquoise-blue running through the rear. Not only a rare locality specimen, but a stunner too. Exceptional.
