Pyrargyrite - one of the famous 'Ruby Silvers' - and has always been one of the most desirable species for collectors to obtain. This miniature specimen comes from one of the absolute classic Pyrargyrite occurrences, at St. Andreasberg, Harz, Lower Saxony, Germany where silver mining were developed from the 15th century onwards. The crystals displayed on this piece are exquisite - presenting wonderful trigonal three sided sloping pyramidal terminations superficially resembling garnet, but with short prism faces too, and some twinning. Texturally, the Pyrargyrite displays a lovely glossy resinous lustre with deep purple-red colour, and with naturally etched surfaces to some of the crystals. The crystals are in fine condition and stand proud of the underlying white Calcite matrix making for a very classy specimen. It comes from the amazing collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021).
