LAUTITE with NATIVE Arsenic
This extremely rich miniature Lautite comes from the Type Locality and is accompanied with labels which indicate that it was collected at around the time that this species was named - in 1881. Not only this, but the crystals are quite large, as coarse resinous to metallic bladed intergrown with Native Arsenic and Chalcopyrite. Specimens of Lautite from Lauta are extremely rare, and often just as polished sections rather than larger hand specimens. It comes from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) and who loved historic labels. These old labels certainly have late 19th century appearance to them, adding to the charm of this wonderful historic piece.
