The ArkenstoneFeatured
A fine, large and well-formed Monazite-(Ce) crystal group from this Brazilian locality, notable for the sheer size. Monazite-(Ce) is a REE phosphate and the crystal has not been analyzed, but is most likely Monazite-(Ce). There is one main crystal, an intermediate size crystal and a few smaller ones that comprise this group. The crystals have good luster, sharp edges, good faces and exhibit an opaque to translucent light amber color. The largest and second largest crystals are actually twinned, with the large crystal better developed than its counterpart. The front of the piece is in excellent condition while the back and bottom are poorly formed probably from being intergrown with the host rock. This is a large and very important example of Monazite-(Ce) from this Brazilian locality. Ex Paul Stahl collection.
