Out of Dan's wide and diverse selection of Fluorite specimens, this is arguably one of his more unusual pieces. Contrary to its initial appearance, this cabinet specimen is composed of not two but three generations of Fluorite. The most interesting of these is the latest generation, which features eight octahedral groups of Fluorite (up to 4.3 centimeters) that have a lilac color and an unusual curved shape-colloquially named "Ox-Eye" Fluorites. These groups are isolated across a translucent, bright green backdrop of two previous Fluorite generations: a thin plate of interweaving octahedrons and larger cuboctahedral crystals that mainly swell across the top of the specimen's front side; interestingly, the curved octahedral groups are only presented on the secondary generation of cuboctahedrons. This piece backlights well and comes with a custom acrylic base.
