Quartz (Japan-Law Twin)
All seasoned mineral collectors are familiar with this very distinctive twin law, the Japan-Law Twin (in which the two sides must grow at 84.33 degrees) which typically presents as a symmetrical heart shape. As the name suggests, this twin law was named for specimens found in Japan, at this very mine in Kofu, not too far from the bay area metroplex. As such, Japan-Law Twins that are actually from Japan are considered to be very valuable, and they almost never reach the size that this specimen does-the vast majority are thumbnails or miniatures, usually under 4 centimeters. It's very large, it's beautifully symmetrical, and it proudly shows that stout heart shape: it's no exaggeration to say that this is simply the perfect Japan-Law Twin specimen. This specimen comes with a custom acrylic base.
