Bunker Hill mine Pyromorphite is one of the most distinctive forms of Pyromorphite you can find. In some respects it looks like the phosphate-rich variety of Mimetite found at Dry Gill in the Caldbeck Fells, England with its striking burnt orange colour and rounded crystals, but there are subtle differences. Of course, Bunker Hill mine has produced other colours and shapes of Pyromorphite, but these rich orange crystals are the most highly sought. Usually, these crystals are aggregated to form crusts, rather than discrete individual crystals. This very large miniature specimen features isolated, 3-dimensional globular crystals, but on closer inspection it can been seen that each spherical mass is composed of a myriad of crystal faces. Their lustre is superb, a fine resinous one, which all the very best Pyromorphite has. Individually, these rounded crystals reach 6 mm in diameter. Many other crystals are aggregated together to form a layer and some colour variation occurs, with yellow crystals at one end of the specimen, through deep burnt orange in the centre, to yellow-orange at the other end. A choice Bunker Hill Pyromorphite of the highest quality.
